Michelle is from Laguna Beach and currently teaches in Orange County, California. Yoga moved its way into her life when she was training for a half marathon and was craving balance in her body. She needed a way to lengthen her muscles and help reverse the physical strain that running caused. She immediately fell in love with what yoga had to offer, discontinued running, and started practicing yoga wholeheartedly. Her love for yoga grew and she wanted to dive deeper by getting certified to teach. She completed her 200 hour teacher training on the big island of Hawaii through Yogaworks led by Alicia Cheung and Oliver Reinsch. Michelle’s teaching style consists of a blend of Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga. She is also currently completing her 100 hour prenatal yoga teacher training through Bliss Baby Yoga based out of Australia.
Michelle’s personal practice first started off very physical because she loved the challenge of learning new and difficult poses. That was initially reflected in her teaching style but when she went away to Australia and taught a few yin yoga classes, she realized her love for the calmer side of the physical practice as well. She values being able to bring in different aspects of yoga like pranayama, meditation, intention setting, and observing the subtle and energetic body. Michelle teaches vinyasa flow style classes as well as slower paced classes that are more focused on flexibility, longer holds, and working with the breath while being in poses to get a deeper opening while creating that mind-body connection and overall awareness. She also is a certified Reiki 2 healer and works with clients privately. She studied and completed her Usui Shiki Ryoho training and certification under Shilah Sarkissian and Kimi Dawn (www.yogatrippin.net).
