Born and raised in Southern California, Michelle was always active and around a culture that found wellness to be an important quality of life. She found yoga around 2010, but didn’t fully embrace the practice until 2013. After a couple months of practicing consistently, Michelle already knew she was going to teach in some way. A year later, she went to the big island of Hawaii to complete her 200 hour teacher training through Yogaworks led by Alicia Cheung and Oliver Reinsch. Michelle’s teaching style consists of a blend of Ashtanga and Iyengar yoga.
She started teaching yoga in Melbourne, Australia while living there for a few months. After being asked to sub her first yin style yoga class, she fell in love with the more yin/feminine/calming side of yoga and its postures. She values being able to bring in different aspects of yoga like pranayama, meditation, intention setting, and observing the subtle and energetic body. Michelle teaches vinyasa flow style classes as well as slower paced classes that are more focused on flexibility, longer holds, and working with the breath while being in poses to get a deeper opening while creating that mind-body connection and overall awareness.
Yoga also opened the door to energy healing for Michelle. Initially the practice helped her go on her own healing journey, but she quickly realized she wanted to help heal others using more modalities than just yoga. Learning she was highly empathic and started to discover clairvoyance, she wanted to study the energetic body and how it related to one’s physical, mental, and emotional health. Michelle started studying Reiki and energy in February 2015. Michelle is a certified Reiki Master and Healing Arts Practitioner.
